Way to go Rinty.....

From today's Daily Record

Bizarre row over school days between Glasgow East hopefuls
Jul 7 2008

A BIZARRE fight has broken out between rival socialist candidates in the Glasgow East by-election. Solidarity claimed their candidate Tricia McLeish was "disciplined" by SSP hopeful and former MSP Frances Curran when they were at school together.
A Solidarity source said: "Tricia went to the same school as the SSP candidate. "Tricia was younger and was a rebellious mod who was often disciplined by the blazer-clad prefect Frances Curran. "Frances clearly showed early signs of collusion with authority. However, maybe the class rebel will win the final victory." Curran said: "I'm not even going to dignify that with a comment." Solidarity are the party set up by Tommy Sheridan after his bitter split from the SSP over his defamation court case in 2006.

That's so embarrassing. What idiot in the squalids thought this was a good idea when other candidates are striking out at GB and his cronies?

I'm lost. What are you suggesting?

Back to the issue at hand - what idiot planted the story in the record? Was it your great idea? How will it help you win the seat?

Rolling Eyes
Amber I am perplexed as to why you are so anti-solidarity I have debated with nationalists or SNP supporters on this forum and they display disagreement rather than very intense dislike of solidarity.

I dislike Solidarity because I believe it to be a fraudulent, deeply dishonest organisation.

Fraudulent or dishonest in what way?

You need to elaborate not make mere brief comments about your reasons for disliking solidarity.

I don't "need" to do any such thing.
Soon, I believe, my position will be vindicated.

For someone that claims to support SNP I find your comments difficult to accept.  Amber you say very little about yourself on this forum except to say "vote snp" and proceed to launch attacks on Solidarity evertime it suits your unknown agenda.

I'll just have to live with that.

Still fascinated to discover with solidarity dimwit thought it was a good idea to throw away some rare coverage by pushing the prefect story.

Is there nobody with journalistic experience in their press team?

Well whatever you have to live with make sure the baggage is not to heavy Smile

I thought the story amusing I know they are pressing issues for the working class in Glasgow East and I am confident Solidarity and Tricia are more than able to address these.

So you have journalist experience?

I don't know why you would assume that. That's simply ridiculous.
I'm not a party press spokesman though and you'd think those sort of people might have some idea what they were doing.

Ok it is ridiculous I never assumed you would make a good one anyway Very Happy

However you are not party press spokesperson as you are not even in a party I presume

I am sure the people of Glasgow East that vote, will do so about matters important to them whatever comes from the press offices of all the candidates.

I am happy to read any story from the expeienced spokespersons of Solidarity

The Daily Record story was not from asolidarity's pess officer, press team or candidate.

It is an insignificant story compared to the kind given (and sold) to newspapers by amber and her mates.  But it is a silly story and not helpful to Solidarity or any other party in the campaign.

Fedayn,  I accept that, as the solidarity press officer for the first part of the campaign, (that the part up until my holidays) then it happened on my watch so I take some responsibilty, even if I dont know the details of how the story got there.  BUT, this forum has tried, over the last 4 years, to stay out of this SSP/Solidarity squabble.  I will reply to posts on the issue but in general we try to keep away from it.

I hope that my friends here are not subjected to the ruin of this forum in the way that these squabbles have wasted other forums and ask you to keep away from the subject.  There are plenty of other places to debate this, you are a menber of some of them.

The BBC webpage has a full list of candidate profiles here now that Labour were actually able to select themselves a candidate

An SSP supporter stops a constituent in the Glasgow East constituency.

He points to a sign he has just put up a lamp post which Says 'VOTE CURRAN' and asks "Who do you think that means?".

The constituent scratches his head and says "Vote for Margaret Curran maybe?"

The SSP guy says "%$*&@# I just put up 2000 of them." He climbs up the lamp post and uses a marker to change it to "VOTE F. CURRAN".

The constituent says "Aye! Definitely Margaret Curran!"
