Pearl Harbour Economics
http://burningourmoney.blogspot.com/
This uses figures from the IMF to predict rising government debts worldwide for the next 40 years... from 100% to 250% of GDP.
But the real problem is the age-ing population
| Quote: | According to the IMF, for the UK, the net fiscal cost of our Pearl Harbour will be about 30% of GDP, or around £500 bn (net present value).
That's bad enough, but it pales into insignificance compared to the cost of our ageing population. That comes in at an horrendous 330% of GDP, or around £5 trillion in today's terms. Or £200 grand for every single household.

Exactly. |

Maybe this is the first few signs of that trouble.
The treasury have failed to auction off all their govt bonds.

Sign of things to come - George Osborne - Chancellor Elect - has big plans on big spending cuts. He has rejected tax rises though. I simply cannot believe that. The way Britain's finances are in, tax rises are inevitable I would think.
Save the announcement for after the election though
