I dont know whether to laugh.... or just give up.
I think giving up is best, he is moving slightly to widening his view along the lines of what people have been pointing out to him, but, frankly, I am getting bored with this.
Jamesie has finally admitted that there is more to this than just the fact they are immigrants when he says:
"I have since spent a lot of time reading a whole variety of articles on this and can't make up my mind whether these people are really just their own worst enemy or whether they are truly discriminated against right from the start as second class citizens and act accordingly. "
The fact that he is even acknowledging that there are other factors has been worth the effort and debate. So I think my work here is done.
Well done Jamesie, it took a while and I still dont agree with you fully, but at least you eventually read about it and came up with a valid view.

We are not allowed to critiicize minority groups these days or even deport them. We're all one U happy family!
One drive through Govanhill tells you there is a major problem.
The other is the crime stats which tell you there are more murders in the square mile round the place than anywhere in Western Europe.
It used to be such a nice place 10 years ago... |

You want to deport all the minority groups? Surely it would make more sense to deport individuals who are, a) immigrants and b) criminals.
It's those sorts of comments that attract cries of 'racist' because they are racist.

| I lived in Govanhill for a couple of years - Calder Street and then Prince Edward Street, and moved from there about 10 years ago. Certainly wasn't seeing all the things I've been reading on this thread that have apparently been happening since. I remember it being quite nice. Was easy access to the city centre for work/socialising, and queen's park was just a short walk too. I felt safe living there. |

Where did I say anything about deporting minority groups? The minority groups in Govanhill are Eastern European. As the UK is part of the EU there is nothing to stop them coming back.
But since you have mentioned it then anyone who commits murders and rapes, and a fair few have been attributed to Eastern Europe people in recent years, then they should be kicked out of the country once they have served there sentence. So that makes people racist for stating the obvious?
You obviously have no clue about Govanhill then in the last decade when it was an up and coming area and young professional types and buy to let were buying up the flats or new builds.
It has only been in the last 5 years it has gone completely downhill due to the landlords letting the houses to anyone, vast amounts of Eastern Europeans being housed in the area unchecked, criminal gangs being based in the area, and decent people moving on to other better areas.
How's Dumbartonshire these days? Still a shithole like Bellsmyre and Dumbarton East? |

The first quote I made above sounded like you were suggesting a blanket deprtation scheme, perhaps I mis-interpreted.

No, I'd be inclined to agree that foreign nationals committing crimes should be deported, indeed, there is provision within the legal system for this.

Maybe your right, my experience of Govanhill don't rank among my favourites.

I wouldn't know, but I imagine so. The whole area from Dumbarton up the banks of the clyde through clydebank and onwards are fairly diabolical.
Just for reference the town is Dumbarton, the shire is Dunbartonshire, subtle

govanhill is a f***ing shithole and being further ruined by white/asian/roma gangs. the problem became much worse when the roma arrived and started drug dealing and prostituting their children, they are not the only ones doing this but the scale of their 'operation' incresed racial tension dramaticaly.
