Hi, am looking for a wee bit of help with finding old miners from Ayrshire who are willing to talk about mining in the area.
I am hoping t write an account of their times to allow their stories and great work to be read for years to come. Any advice or help would be greatly recieved.

I can put you in touch with 'miners voices' who collect oral records of miners and events in mining history in ayrshire.
The museum at Newtongrange has good resources and the NUM would be worth contacting too.
Send me your email address and I will get someone from Miners Voices to contact you.
There some good books out there, George Montomery's "Mining Chronicle" is essential for the key events in mining history, Joe Owens wrote a great book 10 years after the strike with real miners experiences 10 years on.
happy to help if I can. |

| I talked to a few very old miners from Killochan pit in South Ayrshire in the early 90's, they are long gone, but many families in the village of Dailly still retain their stories. |
