1978. |
1978 is not an answer and is 31 years past, rather like your usual arguments.

You are switching from the present tense to the past tense. Your initial statement was that opinion polls do not show a majority for a referendum, but you've changed your tune.
Now be a good chap and show us this opinion poll data from 1978.
(Hint: the referendum in 1979 did not include an independence option. Further hint: there was a devolution referendum in 1979 which seems to imply there was a fairly sizable demand for one.) _________________ "My instinct is to agree with your opinion of his verse, but I've never so much as glanced at it." - agentmancuso |

Referendum option?
How many Scots voted for?
Do the maths? |

Where a Scot lives is irrelevant.
Scotland is my homeland and I care a great deal about its future.
If you're saying because by some odd quirk of fate a Scot not actually living in Scotland is not entitled to voice his/her opinion about the country of their birth, then you know nothing about a person's love for their country.
Drop it, it's irrelevant and pointless. _________________ Every man dies, not every man really lives.

It's not irrelevant and pointless when you have a vocal minority of ex-pats who demand Scottish independence but don't live, work, pay tax or bring their family up in Scotland.
When you contribute nothing to Scotland, why should you have a say?
Your comments regarding Scotland are irrelevant and pointless as you lave very little experience of living in Scotland currently and choose to live in a completely different country from the UK.
If you love your country so much, why don't you come back and live, work, and bring up your family here instead of telling those of us who do what we should be doing and feeling about Scotland? |

Since you see Scotland as a technical discussion then you wouldn't understand.
Anyway, that is your opinion and means less than nothing to me or any of the other real Scots on the board. _________________ Every man dies, not every man really lives.

What is a REAL Scot Stevie?
Someone who lives, works, pays tax, and bringing up their family here Stevie like I do?
Or someone like you who talks about their love of Scotland but doesn't live, work, pay tax, or bring their family up here?
I bet my comments hold far more weight than yours do. |

A real Scot want a sovereign independent nation not a Brit Nat who endlessly argues against it.

So if I was brought up in the US and traced my family tree back to some sort of clan and wanted Scottish sovereign independence, does that make me a true Scot? Even though I have never set foot here?
Do you know how ridiculas you sound? |

Yes, that would make you much more of a real Scot.
Frankly, origins, race etc. are irrelevant ; it's what you have in your heart that counts.
Yours seems empty other than that Brit Nat chutzpah you are enamored with. _________________ Every man dies, not every man really lives.

Actions speak louder than your words and idealism Stevie.
You can't even answer why you don't live, work, or bring up your family here. That's really all we need to know about how much of a real Scot you are. |

I challenge you to find one hate filled word I've ever posted.
Stupid and pathetic, well that's your insufflated opinion. I have my opinion about people here but choose not to insult them personally.
Ignorant little woman. Actually, I'm neither but I'm glad you're somewhat irritated... good news that.
Basically, you and Fidget are showing your rude unpleasant selves. One just has to wait long enough and it shows... quite stereotypical really. _________________ Every man dies, not every man really lives.

Brits I don't use. I use Brit Nats and I don't make insulting personal attacks.
'Real' Scots. You're not one in the sense that I view a Scot; you are however a real Brit Nat.
If you think being a Brit Nat is insulting then that's because you see the world through some Orange sectarian lens that I don't.
You're far from being an agreeable chap after all.
Oh yes, those two terms pale in comparison to the unpleasant personal attack you just made. _________________ Every man dies, not every man really lives.
