two good reasons why summer football would be good for Scottish leagues.

1.  Euro qualification.  There is no doubt in my mind that, if we were match sharp, that scottish teams would see another round at least for every team, leading to more income.  Rangers wouldnt have lost to Kaunas, Celtiic were clearly a better team than Dinamo AND Artmedia.  Proof from this year in the shape of St Pats of Dublin who beat the team 6th in last years russian league, Ireland play their league oer the summer.

2. TV Revenue - Kilmarnock vs Aberdeen isnt very appealling to TV companies and/or audiences when in competition to EPL, La Liga, Bundesliga, Serie A.  But from May to August, the TV only has friendlies and pishy wee leagues to cover, so the SPL becomes one of the better football attractions on offer.

Agree 100% Rinty. Been saying the same for years. We're never going to be able to compete with the media-friendly premiership, so we need to offer something different. Summer football is THE sensible option and probably the only way that Scottish football will survive in the long term.

Good posts Guys.

Totally agree with you both.

It's time for Summer Football.
Most of the Nordic Nations, Russia and Ireland do it.

I'm not jumping on the backwagon after the disappointing results this week in Europe. Olomenc who beat Aberdeen had only played 1 League match.

I think it would attract more fans - even maybe some English People might pick a SPL side to follow in the Summer Months and hopefully a rejuvnated interested from folk back home who have gone off Scottish Football, Hopefully no post-poned games and Hopefully decent weather and would prepare our sides for games in the First Rounds of Europe.

As for the National Side, It'd probably be alright for that as well. Most Qualifying games for the Euros/WC are between 'March - November'.
