I'm signing out of this forum as it has become a one way debate on Scotland which seems to exclude alternative versions of what Scotland is.
My reason or the straw that broke the camels back was the thread where one post waxed lyrically about Scotland. The reply to it from one member of the forum pointed out that we have had our part to play in Imperialism and we were not all heroes.
The hostile reaction to this post included advocating repatriation of fellow scots who didn't like their version of history.
It was the reaction to parkhead rfb's post that led the debate down another subject, not the actual post.
Eventually the thread was locked and Parkhead was blamed.
Can we not accept that some people in our country feel not as much of a part of Scottishness than others. Do we have to react angrily every time someone suggests we disriminate against certain people.
This is a one man, one theme forum with no room for debate and as such is useless to me as an experienced political activist in Scotland.
In England right now we see groups of young Pakistani men who feel that they have more in common with the culture and political events of the nation of their fathers and grandfathers. In Scotland the same happens in the Central Belt with young men of Irish-catholic origin.
To blame them for this is pure denial, nothing more.
We now even have posts DELETED from a thread which were not offensive and didn't break forum rules (as no doubt this one will be) and a "three strikes and your out" system which is clearly set up just to get Parkhead RFB kicked off the forum.
You can keep "OUR SCOTLAND" if that is the kind of Scotland you live in. My Scotland has a diverse range of peoples and views. I don't like them all but none of them offend me as such, ALL of them are part and parcel of what makes Scotland. We should not be afraid of these views or hostile to them, we should listen to men like RFB and find out how he came to reach his views, investigate whether our society has played a part in this, and debate it.
This little private members club of "those who are not with us are against us" Scotland, contributes nothing.
Why don't you call it "Our Scotland - not yours".

Absolute rubbish - as long as threads stay roughly on-topic I don't have a problem. The Scottish News, Life and Society would be a perfect place to start threads of this nature instead of just hijacking every other thread! I don't see how posting these views/opinions in there is a problem?

Maybe that shows that others are also angry that almost every post, no matter what forum it's in - turns into one totally unrelated to the topic very quickly.

Again - absolute rubbish. Why are there different forums at all if it is a 'one theme' forum as you say. I don't remember switching any posts that parkhead_rfb has put in the correct forums.
Some people DON'T want to read about this. If they read the Football forum it's because they are interested in Football issues - not Irish ones. There is a clearly defined forum for that.

Not once have I said that parkhead_rfb wasn't allowed to have these views or to post about them. What I take offence at is that they are always posted out of context and totally off-topic, as well as usually being in the totally wrong forum!
I also never blamed him for anything other than taking posts off-topic. In fact - if you look at one of his off-topic posts within the football section you'll see in fact that we both agreed that this WAS a Scottish Society Problem! I have recognised it as a Scottish problem - so surely threads that start about these topics would be more useful rather than hijacking every other active thread?

Agreed - however within conxtext. I have a lot of time for Irish Nationalists - even the Scottish ones! I only wish they would open their ears to other people's views.

That's your opinion. For a site thats only been operating for 6-odd weeks - I think we're doing rather well. It can hardly be called a 'private member's club' at only 6 weeks old! I have personally welcomed EVERYONE onto this forum, no matter their politics or views.

Because that would sound very stupid and would be hard to remember! _________________ "Every single person on this planet is unique. Just like everyone else..." - Random Guy in Edinburgh Pub
