Not a Scottish related group but more of my Compatriots and another group attempting
to liberate their nation. The Government of Free Vietnam is a
government in exile based in California which owns military training
bases on the border of Vietnam and Cambodia as well as in other places
in Asia, in the past 10 years the members of the GFV have made many
strikes against the current government of Vietnam as well as
attacks on Vietnamese embassies abroad. The GFV is currently led by
General Nguyen Khanh who is a former Prime Minister of the Republic of
Vietnam. the government in exile also runs the Radio Free Vietnam
network which is able to broadcast directly into Vietnam as well as
the rest of Asia with up to the minute news as well as promoting the
rights of individual freedom.

I cant see the relevance of this to "Our Scotland". Genuine national liberation movements will have something in common with the views of people on this forum in my opinion. But an armed group supported by expats who wish to attack their own country (not under foreign control) to impose free market capitalism surely cannot be considered to anything to do with independence or national liberation.

The bit that was most revealing in your Wikipedia link was, in my opinion

The Government of Free Vietnam violates the U.S. Neutrality Act; but, like its counterpart, the Cambodian Freedom Fighters, the U.S. government has not taken a strong stance against them, except by arresting Vo Duc Van.

The Government of Free Vietnam is a genuine Government in Exile and falls under the heading of "other politics" The GFVN has far more support worldwide than many movements which recieve attention/endorsements here, granted it does not concern Scots nor am I Vietnamese, it is a group which I personally support.

Hi Rinty.

I agree that it probably doesn't fit in with the beliefs of most who read this forum. Nor is it in the traditional sense a 'nationalist movement'. It probably does merit being in this section as it is 'Other Politics'.

Do you therefore think we should have two separate forums - one for Other Nationalist Movements and one for All Other Politics?

I suppose it kind of begs the question whether we need a UK or Worldwide Politics forum - but I quite like the way so many different types of threads pop up in here and keeps this forum very interesting.

What are people's thoughts on this?
