Whilst leading the singing of Flower of Scotland before recent international football matches, Donnie Munro told the SFA he would only sing verses one and two as opposed to the usual one and three. The third verse includes the line "we can still rise now, and be a nation again".
Campbell Martin MSP said: "Given Mr Munro's political loyalty to New Labour, I had my suspicions that his British unionist prejudices were being exerted on the SFA, so I raised the matter with the chief executive, David Taylor, who confirmed that the SFA previously displayed the words of verses one and three on the electronic scoreboard before games and in the match programme, but that Donnie Munro had other ideas.
"I understand Mr Munro refuses to sing the verse that includes the line that Scotland can rise and be a nation again. If that really is the case, he is not the man to lead the Tartan Army in the singing of Flower of Scotland.
"The SFA should tell Donnie Munro his services are no longer required and, if I were him, I would be too ashamed to show my face at Hampden on Saturday for the game against the USA."
Donnie Munro, you are an utter disgrace.

You would hope that after this (I'm sure this story must have been news among the Tartan Army) if he does ever go back to Hampden, he will be booed. |
