With the knowledge that this blog's first anniversary is coming up, and that it'll soon be the end of the year, now seems as good a time as any to introduce the First Annual MacNumpty Awards. But being the lazy git that I am, I'm going to ask most of you to do the hard work, by nominating your winners (and losers) in my two main categories: Best and Worst Performance. I'll put together a politically-balanced shortlist at the end of the month.
Also, if you fancy any other categories being introduced, drop me a line.

Well Chisholm must deserve a nomination.
I'd personally nominate George Folkes just for being a complete fud though. |

The "Comical Ali" (wiki ref http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comical_ali) award should go to the Lib Dems for their "we are the only party in Scotland with Momentum" line. _________________ "Quite simply, Labour have been caught red-handed so often that no-one believes a word they say any more." |

Both of these for "Best Performance"
Despite my political predjudices: Mohammed Sarwar, Labour. He's done a few good things despite being a Brit. Going to Pakistan to and helping to bring to trial three criminals: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/scotland/6125660.stm

And then his mediation in the "Molly Campbell" affair. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/scotland/highlands_and_islands/5299954.stm
also:
in terms of setting the political agenda, the entire movement of Indy First (or whomever wants to take glory or - ahem - blame for setting the political agenda towards independence like Neil Caple - sorry IFConvener - or Joe Middleton, Dave Coull... etc. etc...)
I'm not a member (and so believe I can suggest them) I'm not a member because I have reservations in terms of referendums which I believe would be hypocritical to membership.
Despite this, they HAVE set an agenda and encouraged some of the biggest and best demostrations towards Independence in recent times. Previously, Indy was reserved for speeches and manifestos, and the odd PPB, but Indy First changed that. Unquestionably. You only have to look at the "opinion polls" to see that. _________________ "Your denial is beneath you, and thanks to the use of hallucinogenic drugs, I see through you." Bill Hicks |
