Hi everybody,
I s'pose I better get straight to the point and tell you all how I came to be here.
First of all, the only biological connection I have with Scotland is an ancestor from, I believe, the east coast somewhere, who (from what dad told me) was called Mary Clark(e). Her father was a ship's captain, of what kind of ship, I have no idea. Anyway, she got up to no good, according to the King's government and found herself on a trip downunder. She found herself in Tasmania in the 1830's to 40's and it was here she met her future husband from England, also on an extended vacation. On being released from their resort, they made their way to Victoria and Melbourne and eventually to a little place called Maldon in the Victorian central highlands and that's how I got here, with a little help from some Cornish/English and Germans.
Anyway in 1993, I found myself attached to a lass who was working in Melbourne at the time on a 12 month, self imposed, vacation. She hailed from Inverurie in Aberdeenshire, and though she loved Australia, I could tell she would rather be home. So she went home and I followed her 5 months later to a reception that was as cold as the weather. I fell in love with Scotland instantly and had she wanted me to stay, I wouldn't have hesitated. Though I didn't know about it at the time, she was seeing a guy (so gullible) in Inverurie, so I went home after my 6 and a half weeks were up not really knowing what the future held. But when her dad came to stay with me in early '95, I got the message quite clearly and I haven't seen or heard of her since.
All through these years I've never stopped loving her. I think of her when something reminds me like the sound of a Scottish accent or bagpipes or anything to do with Scotland. I was really hoping that somehow I might be able to find her someday through Scottish forums and the help of friendly Scots like yourselves. I don't know if I'm allowed to type names on this site, but it's the only way I can obtain help from someone who might know of her, so here goes.
Her unmarried name was Samantha Fawley (DOB 4th April, '71), Inverurie, Aberdeenshire. Her dads name was Alan and mum was Susan. She had a sister, Suzy, living in Glasgow with an ex-copper, Donny. Her boyfriend's name, I believe, was Eoin. They were buying a house together in Aberdeen the last time I spoke to her (Valentines Day '95).
If anyone can help in anyway, I'd be eternally grateful. I don't want to change anything about her life, I just want to say hi.

Reluctant Hero,
Thanks for your kind wishes, but I think it will be like searching for a needle in a hay stack.

Hi Shane, welcome to the forums. Good luck with your search... _________________ "Every single person on this planet is unique. Just like everyone else..." - Random Guy in Edinburgh Pub
"There is British nationalism or Scottish nationalism. I prefer the civic nationalism of small nations that has been expressed through the independence of a dozen European nations of similar size to Scotland in the past 100 years. They have prospered and I'd choose the tolerance and peace of Norway and Ireland over Trident and the illegal Iraq war any day. - Alex Salmond
