Hamas have condemned the car bomb attack on Glasgow Airport in a statement following the release of BBC journalist Alan Johnston.

Do you think they're trying to earn themselves some respectability Rinty? Kind of looks that way to me.

Could be, and why not? every other party does try to look credible.

But, this is not a new point of view from Hamas and is consistent.

I agree with Alex Salmond, we should be engaging with Hamas as the democratically elected government.

I agree Rinty. I thought the UK stance on this was very poor to say the least. The Labour party's rewriting history to claim that the Iraq invasion was to bring democracy to The Middle East. Now when a Middle East country democratically elect a government they say this is unsuitable and they impose sanctions and refuse to talk to them. How're they going to sort out the problems without engaging with them. I'll be interested to see how Bush's new Middle East Envoy, Blair (no doubt he'll have diplomatic immunity), deals with this situation.

Worst appointment ever!

One thing that is a necessity for someone to be a peace broker is that they are neutral. When it comes to Palestine in general and Gaza/Hamas in particular, Blair has shown that he clearly isnt neutral.

When he was PM he chose Lord Levy as envoy to the area, Levy is a well known support of zionism and his son works in an Israeli govt ministry.
