As if the week couldn't get any worse, it looks like Riordan has signed for Rangers for £350k.

The Huns are at it. They are a f***ing disgrace. Holding every other club to ransom. If David Murray opens his smug gub again about lack of competition in Scottish football, I will personally drive up to Ibrox and put my fist in his face.

They have ripped us (the 'diddy' teams) off for long and weary, Dundee, Hearts, Hibs blah blah blah. Murray has no morals. He's driven purely by cash and as long as he is Chairman at Greyskull, he'll do nothing to drive out bigotry, because in his language bigotry equals hard cash.

I f***ing hate Rangers. Boyd and Riordan for £750k, an absolute disgrace.

Aparently Romanov has been on the radio saying Hertz will match any offer by Rangers. If it means more money...

Romanov is simply trying to stir up trouble with Hibs - and I'd be amazed if Riordan chose Hearts over Rangers.

I'm sure he is, but he's been on himself saying that. If it forces the Rangers bid up a bit I'll be happy. He has actually proven that he will spend a bit of money with that Bosnian guy.

As for Riordan not going to Hearts cause he's a hibee... It would be bad, but I (and a lot of other hibees) don't think Rangers are much better. I would rather they too 100k less and sold him the that German club that offered £250k last week.

Crazy to sell him to any opposition club.

WHy woould you choose rangers at this point in your career anyway. How many games will Riordan think he will get. These boys should learn from people like Kenny Miller and Mark Burchill, The old firm only ruin good young scottish talent

Mainly because he'll earn 5 times as much as he does at Hibs - an argument I have a lot of sympathy with. Also because his main advisor will be his agent who earns a cut from any move. And also even on the bench, he will be guaranteed a place in the Scotland squad.

But shouldn't these players want to play. I know people have to earn a living but at hibs he was on enough, and in a shrewd way if he became a full scottish international playing every scotland game surely he could have asked for more money

we live in a material world - the days where players choose first team starts over money are long gone. I'm not saying there aren't any - just that there are far fewer than there were 15 or 20 years ago.

There's a bit of that... There is also the pragmatism whereby it's good sense to take the money while you can get it. Riordan is only likely to be top-flight footballer for 10-15 years and who knows when he might get injured. That said, he was breaking into the Scotland squad, another couple of years on the very decent wages that Hibs were offering and he could move to a bigger team and get a guaranteed game.

Anyway - transfer is off for now, they've supposedly only offered £300k so far. I'm pretty sure they'll come back with a wee bit more. Supposedly another couple of clubs 'monitoring' the situation as well.

Meanwhile
- Hertz have added another three. In addition to the £800k Beslija, they've signed Bosnia winger Juho Makela from Racing Genk on a three-and-a-half year deal and Jose Goncalves and Bruno Aguiar on loan from FBK Kaunas. Never heard of any of them myself...

-Motherwell have signed former Monaco striker Abel Thermeus from French side Creteil-Lusitanos.

-Killie bring back Eric Skora and also sign defender Lindsay Wilson on loan from PSV Eindhoven.

Watch out for Thermeus of Motherwell - heard very good reports about him.

Also Skora was immense for Killie a couple of seasons ago but can't see us getting the best out of him until he is fully fit and has a full pre-season - meaning next season.

Has anyone heard anything about Lindsay Wilson?, coming from PSV he must have a good or at least decent pedigree.

Sounds no bad.

Quote:
Versatile defensive player Lindsay Wilson was included in PSV Eindhoven's UEFA Champions League squad despite failing to play a match for the Dutch club in his first three seasons in Eindhoven.

Wilson got a brief taste of international action for Australia in 2001, appearing against Tonga and Fiji.

PSV snapped up Wilson from Sydney Olympic in summer 2002, but he spent the whole of the following season on the sidelines, and the 2003/04 campaign on loan at FC Volendam, where he started 25 league games.

2004/05: Another loan spell for Wilson, who enjoyed a decent campaign at second division Helmond Sport, scoring twice in 27 league matches. English side Derby County FC gave Wilson a trial in summer 2005 but chose not to sign him, so he returned to PSV, to whom he is contracted until 2007.

It's difficult to tell really.

I rememeber we signed a striker from a top Dutch league side about 6 years ago. He seemed to have a first class pedigree and had scored regularly for his club. He came to Killie and was simply the worst striker I've seen at the club.

Others seem to be superstars who come from nowhere.

I no longer get excited by any signings until I see them play.

Day 31 in the Scottish Transfer Window, 23:15
Smile
and he's still not went. I admire Hibs for not giving in to Rangers offering stupidly little for a promising Scottish player.

Almost over - and they say it's all talks have definitely ended. Looks like they were either trying to get him on the cheap, or make sure he wasn't playing against them at the weekend! Either way, well done the Hibs board for not playing their game. Hope Riordan puts a couple past them on Saturday Very Happy

........however it could come back to bite them in the arse if he signs for them in the summer anyway.

Exactly. RS, this is a very popular move amongst the Hibs fans. Even if he goes for free, his services over the rest of the season are worth more than 350k. Remember, we are paying him next to nothing in wages because he won't accept a new deal, so he is still good value. Also, he has a weird contract that isn't up till October, so he should still be worth a wee bit if anyone wants him before then. And if he is available for free, he will have a lot more options than just Rangers and hoepfully he'll end up playing outside Scotland.
