I would also like to introduce myself on a more personal note. My name is Leanna and as you have read I live near Seattle, Washington in the Pacific NW area of the U.S. Although I have never been to Scotland I read as much as I can about your country as it is my first choice for a holiday overseas. It seems that our weather is very similar to yours so I shall probably plan to visit in August! I am very interested in the history of Scotland and someday hope to visit Culloden Moor and see/feel close-up what I have learned so much about. I hope to learn even more of your culture here on this website as I read all of your posts.
Hope to talk with you soon,
Leanna

Welcome to the board Leanna Smile I hope you'll be contributing as well as reading the posts Wink

Yes, I'd definitely visit during the summer. No guarantee of good weather at any time though unfortunately.

That is funny, because I tell people the exact same thing about visiting the Seattle area. Our weather is always unpredictable but summertime and August in particular is usually the best bet. There is so much to do and see here in the summer months which is such a contrast to winter when you have to be a snowboarder or skiier to have outdoor adventures. My family is neither but we enjoy sledding - that is a sport isn't it? Smile

Oh sledding is definitely a sport and is the only winter sport I've done for a long time. Don't get too much of a chance nowadays with the lack of snow though.

There is plenty to do in the winter. Coming from Seattle you would maybe be a bit more forgiving of the weather. It's not usually bad, just often dreich and overcast. I usually find that folk that are used to sunny weather all the time can get a bit down when it goes for a couple of weeks without the cloud breaking.

Nina, thanks for the welcome. I think it is great that you have ties in two different countries. Is it more unusual in Europe to feel at home in two different places? Here in the U.S. many people have a divided allegiance.

Leannan, Hi Smile
I have ties in 3 different countries.
Basically, this means, I am in between 3 different countries and cannae really feel at home anywhere... Confused
But lately, I've felt the strongest connection with Scotland.
