Pathetic to the end:-

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/scotland/7478913.stm

"My pursuers have sought the prize of political victory with little thought to the standing of the parliament," she said.

"Some may feel they have achieved a political victory but wiser heads will surely question 'at what price?'"

Ms Alexander added: "It is clear that vexatious complaints will continue to dominate the headlines as long as I remain Labour's Scottish Parliamentary Leader.

"I cannot ask Labour supporters in Scotland for further forbearance."

She should have done the honourable thing months ago, when the revelations started to surface.

Who is going to take over?  Is there anyone of sufficient claibre to give Salmond something to worry about?

Andy Kerr is the most likely, I don't know of that is quite scraping the bottom of the barrel, but they are certainly having to lean over and reach to well down into the barrel.

Labour are facing meltdown across the UK.

All this Labour spin that it was the SNP that brought her down is wearing a bit thin. Suggest they look closer to home. I wonder who the mole was who snitched on her?

The SoS is saying that Iain Gray is going to be the first one to put his name forward.  Surely he is just going to do that so that there is an actual contest?  I saw him on Newsnight one time and Brewer had him going round in circles.  And if Brewer can do it, I suspect Salmond will easily be able to do it.

Agreed. They are still in total denial about their self-inflicted wounds. Until they can actually accept that their woes are entirely of their own making, Labour is going nowhere but the wilderness.

Are they in denial?  Or are they just not going to admit it too the media?

It strikes me that it's probably in the interests of all potential candidates to play up the (unfounded) notion that it was the SNP 'what done it', rather than admit that their party is dirty.

Curran is the latest MSP to be "considering" running for leader.

One thing to always keep in mind with a new Labour leader is that there is the possibility they may become First Minister at some stage in the future (as unlikely that seems right now, it is still possible). And that role means they head the Scottish Government - effectively are the political leader of Scotland and represent the country at home and abroad.

And with that thought - Margaret Curran anyone?  Shocked Or Cathy Jamieson?

I'm going to miss FMQ's now. It was farcical with Wendy in charge. Salmond didn't even need to turn up to wipe the floor with her. I think they might be even better with Andy Kerr for Labour and Ravishing Tavish Scott leading for the LibDems.

I share your concerns Economist, but it could be worse.

It could have been Wendy Alexander  Laughing
