Okay .... I am waaaay out of my comfort zone with any sport ... since I despise them all with equal measure ... I am after all, an artisan ... but given a choice ... which "sports" would you ditch from the Olympic Games given a choice?
Synchronized swimming? (or drowning to music)
Ice Dance? (sissy stuff)
Beach Volleyball? (or girl-ogling as it's known amongst real men)
Ping-pong? (a bit of a racket)
or does anyone have other choices??

I say we get rid of that daft Scottish sport in which the players sweep an ice rink with brooms. _________________ [img]http://home.att.net/~chuckayoub/black_sabbath/black-sabbath-1970.jpg

....tennis, and football, both should never have been in the Olympics in the first place. _________________ "Gordon Brown mistook a glut of cheap money and a global bull market for his own administrative genius. Just about the only reason to watch the Olympics, in my opinion.
I would get rid of football if only to end the UK team debate and also because a U-23 tournament is a bit out of place at the Olympics. _________________ No more boom and bust - Gordon Brown |

Cricket featured in the 1900 Paris Olympics.
Four teams were originally supposed to play in the tournament - Great Britain, France, Holland and Belgium, but the Dutch and Belgians pulled out, so France and GB played each other in what was the Final.
Despite being GB VS France, there were hardly any Frenchmen in the game. The French team consisted of Britons living in Paris, reportedly mostly members of the British Embassy and the British side was a touring English club team, Devon & Somerset Wanderers.
There were 12 players on each side instead of the norml 11 (by a captains' aggreement).
Great Britain batted first and scored 117. France were then bowled out for 78.
Great Britain then scored 145-5 in their second innings, setting the hosts a target of 185, who were promptly bowled out for just 26. This meant that Great Britain was convincingly the winner of the contest.
The Great Britain team was awarded silver medals and the French team bronze medals, together with miniature statues of the Eiffel Tower.
Unfortunately, cricket doesn't feature in the Olympics anymore.
