Visit www.scotslanguage.com to enjoy some traditional festive entertainment in the Scots language. This year's featured video explores the traditions of Kirkwall's New Year's Day Ba Game. The place too to find the words to Auld Lang Syne and A Guid New Year tae Ane an Aw.

A Guid New Year tae awbodie at Oor Scotland!

Ye're baith wrang.

Ye can say "Happy New Year", and ye can say "A Guid New Year tae awbodie", but ye never, never, wish oniebody either of them before the stroke of midnight on Hogmanay. The richt thing tae say AFORE then is "hae a guid new year WHEN IT COMES".

Hae a guid new year when it comes.........

We canna hae Scots sayin "guid New Year", ye ken, thon wuid nivir dae. Fit wuid the warld come tae if fowk went aboot brakkin aa the traditions?

Haud on a wee minute... is "guid new year" nae mair traditional Scots than "happy new year"? Ochone ochone, Ah'm aa confused noo. Cuid somebdy help?

It's nae immaturity, it's satire.
