see - http://www.lifeaftertheoilcrash.net/

What are people's views on the above site?

As prices of Oil goes up and up, it's only more reason for Scotland to be Indepent IMO - though if you believe the dommsday scenario in the site above that might not be allowed to happen.

The oil will soon run out, not just for Scotland, but for the whole World as well . But something does need to take it's place once the oil runs out.

Scotland coule easily be powered by tidal, wind and solar energy alone. It's one of the benefits of our geographical position, even if we do get a lot of rain!

The only problem is that this type of energy is currently expensive. In 10 years however with all the technological advances that will no doubt be made, all of these types of energy creation will become more effective and economical.

I agree with you there rs_azzuri, once we get all the advanced technology & we are prepared we should be fine. Once we got that the only thing we got to know is when the oil is going to run out.

at current estimates, world oil will run out in 2035 - this is basically the same for North Sea oil.

the problem with North American oil is it's so difficult to remove.

It takes 2 barrels of oil to remove 1 barrel from North America so it is uneconomical to extract it at the moment.

So then it is unadvisable for either Canada or the United States to remove their oil for the moment. Hopefully we should be able to have a solution before the oil runs out.
