I have a wee question. I am not wanting an education, just a simple answer, if you please. In a short story that I read in Scottish Life, it came to me that "ta' means "thanks". Is that Scots Gaelic or just a Scots dialect? I've been told there is a difference. Thank you.

'Ta' is a standard dialectal form of of 'thanks' in most varieties of northern English. _________________ It's murder every week at Firhill. |

Tapadh leat is Gaelic for thanks. Maybe the ta- came from that? It is used in both 'Scots' English and Gaelic.
